But all went very well despite the early morning drizzle. I got a 21 speed Tunturi. The name rang a bell as the maker of those old stationary bicycles found in gyms. It's heavy and I've got a huge Ortlieb pannier loaded with rain gear and all my electronics so top speed is not the greatest. The route is undulating, read it has its share of short steep hills.
There were a number of groups picking up bikes from the rental; about 5 Australians and a couple of Seattle natives so we've got somewhat acquainted along the way.
One of my illogical neurotic fears was not making the 15:00 ferry, the only trip for the day, in time. Totally unreasonable because I can do 45k easily in 2.5 hours and I started around 8:30. Therefore I was at the dock before noon and had a Smuggler Burger at the restaurant.
Weather cleared as I got off the mainland, a bit of a chill in the air but very sunny and pleasant.
I've got my luggage and am now sitting in my repurposed shipping container cabin at Peterzen's Boathouse.
Tomorrow threatens rain but it's an island-hopping day with short rides and short ferry trips.
Here are the final Turku photos and a few from the ride. I'm going to save all the videos for a final entry probably published from home.
